What do you think #writingcommunity? The #YouDeservepIt events used to be fall & spring but so many events have popped up which is becoming an over saturation issue for the entire industry (authors, editors, agents). To help with this, I’m thinking about shifting to 1x/year.

Forgive yourself for rookie mistakes. Being excited for your first book IS a celebration + finding the next step on the path takes time and patience. You learned from your 'jump into querying too too fast' & you're not going to do it again. Progress is counted in years not days. #writingcommunity

Be patient. I’ve already accepted that statistically, I won’t get an agent fast once I query, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. I’d rather it take time and find the right agent and face some rejection to get my novel in the right hands!

Success as a writer (or in any profession really) doesn't happen overnight, and the people who look like they've had overnight success have been putting in years of work into their writing, editing, and re-writing. Rest when you need to rest. Write when you can. There's no shame in taking the time you need. There are limits to how far you can travel on empty, anyway.

Keep coming to the page. Writing is easy when the idea is burning hot in your mind, but when it cools and the doubt creeps in, it gets much harder to keep going. It’s just so much easier to drop that idea and start working on something shiny and new again. Don’t do it. Grind it out. Keep going.

The most encouraging thing I would say to #WritingCommunity is not to focus on success & fame. Write because you enjoy it, don't be afraid to try & give it a shot, but also be flexible & change things up if it's not working for you. #YouDeservepIt
