Had a really good day yesterday: visited the exhibitions we wanted to see at Lakeside Arts. Found our house on one of the River Leen exhibition maps, and I spent an inordinate amount of time poring over the photos of the culverts I recognised XD And then I didn't sleep very well :(

I always find that whenever I pick up the pen after a break my art improves in leaps and bounds since the skill was never gone, and in fact your art improves through your observation skills not just your physical drawing skills

Your brain is always taking in and absorbing new information, with any skill sometimes it just needs to sit and process things for a minute or two before it can move on, so there is no shame in taking a day off, or even a few days, a week, a month, however long it takes

Also should add there's no magic formula. Draw as often as you feel comfortable. Take breaks whenever you feel the need to. To create is to be human, no one says you have to improve or be good at it

"Draw every day" is straight up bad advice Draw regularly, yes, but the hand is a muscle and like with any skill, rest days are critical. You need to rest and recharge, read/watch/play etc in order to keep those creative juices going If you try to force it then it's just gonna lead to burnout
