I was there, too, and recorded this as people left the scene. Hard to see in the video, but the baby in mom's arms was also crying with red eyes.

Please know that this crowd was angry, but peaceful. Absolutely no reason to be gassed. We were chanting “shame, shame” and then it all went off. Footage of real chaos is likely from after this march. 95% of us retreated quickly. It was scary.

I was up near the corner, but couldn't see them come out. You are right: no warning, no time to disperse. They apparently didn't like the "Shame, shame, shame" the crowd was chanting. Clearly touched a nerve.

And it ended when ICE threw tear gas into the completely peaceful crowd, with no warning and no time to disperse before the first release and the subsequent three. It was a beautiful crowd, well-organized and explicit in its direction to remain peaceful.

This is absolutely accurate to my experience of the march today.

This was a peaceful march. The most aggressive thing that happened was the crowd chanting: Shame! Shame! in the direction of the ICE building, where we could see officers watching us from the roof.

I got tear gassed too. The crowd was peaceful. The peaceful protesters were given no warning, and given no time to disperse after the first canister was released. About one minute between the first and the following three were released. More Americans need to wake up and help save our democracy.

This was the peaceful protest in Portland today. This was 15 minutes before tear gas being released. The crowd, was filled with members of 33 of our city's workers' unions...families, kids, and elders who were tear gassed. No warning, no time to disperse before 3 more flash bangs were released.

Was right there with you. The crowd was chanting "shame, shame, shame" and tear gas being deployed was totally unexpected. The crowd was peaceful, filled with groups from 33 of our city's various workers' unions...there were children and elders in the crowd. Totally unneccessary.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people. But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.

the arrest of journalists in minneapolis, including don lemon, is more evidence that the only move the administration knows how to make is to use force, and does not know how to respond when that force is met with defiance and indifference.

Bovino is just the patsy - a noxious and odious fall guy. Stephen Miller is the architect and prime mover of the whole thing. Everything they do is at his direction - often after his threats. As long as he runs policy in the WH, nothing will change no matter how many Bovinos come and go.

ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives. We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.

We had to put up with school shootings because "the 2nd Amendment" But watch ICE eliminate the right to bear arms by executing anyone they find with a gun and to hell with the 2nd Amendment. ICE will soon be killing citizens in their own homes because they're scared there might be a gun inside.
