"History will judge-" let me stop you right fucking there, history doesn't do fucking shit, I'm a historian, let's be clear here: elected officials need to do their fucking jobs, right now, before it happens, or future historians will judge THEM. Everyone knows and knew who Trump was.

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

Just thinking about how the US is possibly going to drop a nuclear weapon on Tehran. 10 million people just trying to live their lives. This will be utterly horrific. Utterly insane and inhumane.

If you've never seen the ancient forests out here, here's a way you can help make sure the possibility to do so remains. The logging won't do what the administration is claiming it will. It will only benefit the already wealthy, much like everything else Trump & Co. do.

People think I’m being alarmist when I say they are trying to make you dumb. They feel entitled to control how and to what extent you can access knowledge. They send their kids to tech-free schools while ensuring public school kids can’t read. They want you illiterate.

Trying to grasp moments of joy in this bleakest of historical moments. It really is a curse to live in interesting times. Oh it would be a joyous thing if the world were to embrace peace and human rights and to feed the hungry and eliminate poverty and homelessness. Those things aren't impossible

I think that tech developers aren't talking to humans when they want to make updates. Most of the "updates" seem really terrible most of the time and mostly seem to be more and more AI trash. It's like they want people to leave technology and the internet.

In 2008 I met a climate scientist from Mali who was advocating for this so long that he looked exhausted. Absolutely amazing man. He was working so hard on this. And then I see numbers like this and my heart just soars. Youba Sokona, you (and your peers) really did it.

A reminder that this is the same man who voted to keep the German men’s right to rape their wives, so it’s not sexual violence against German women he’s opposed to. Some say: it was long ago! He was an adult politician, and never apologised.

So the main culture war in Germany, fought by the country’s leader, is that despite mass deportations there are still too many non-white men in German cities: which needs to change so that white German daughters can feel safer. That’s an actual position that he is taking. An incitement to violence.
