Recently read Wake Up! by Merey of @traumbooks.bsky.social and found it a special contemporary disaster melding slice-of-life and the fantastical while still grounding relationships and queerness as focus

Please Read This Book. You can get it for free on itch here; it's like 100 pages long; I think it has something for most people who are okay with a little darkness and artsy non-linearity in their fiction. Suspense, violence, romance, crime, drama, comedy, twists, slice of life type vignettes.

Good book alert! C.L. Methvin's EUSECT was an exceptional short horror collection. Full of cool ideas and weird twists, with lots of gruesome horror, and a few scenes that had me squirming in my chair. (And I don't squirm lightly.) Highly recommended.

Maybe it's uncouth but if I review a book received as an ARC, I'm not inclined to disclose that I received it as an ARC. I feel all that does is encourage a reader to assume I'm saying what I am because I received the book for free. I'd rather a reader just take my review at face-value.
