Even putting aside all moral and ethical issues over GenAI, it's still just a bad tool. There is no control over it. Just prompts and hope. On a professional level you need to be able to control as much as possible for professional results. With AI you can only fix it's serious problems.

Deep Space 9 has a kind of uneven rocky first season. Some real clunkers and boring episodes as it tries to work out what kind of a show it wants to be. Then Duet comes along, and by god they nail it with that episode. Still a very powerful and impressive episode.

Been rewatching DS9 lately, and it's interesting just how much my brain had forgotten about the early episodes. Like how much everyone is pining over Jadzia, or how much of a sap Bashir is, or how different Rom is at first, or how Odo's barely declared martial law and done a security crackdown yet.

Most film adaptations would go for a plucky underdog tale about someone standing up for the little people, going up against the rich and power, not a story of a well funded group with the backing of a billionaire, the entire media/political class, and a rabid social media ecosystem in their favour.

Well Evil Dead (2013) was perhaps a bit too much of a video nasty for me. Too gratuitous and mean for my tastes. It's well made and all that, and I can see why horror fans may like it, but not my cup of tea. At least I can say I've seen all the Evils Dead now.
