Whether to charge for parking (and when and how much) should be based on observations of parking demand/supply, not on revenue goals. The goal is not revenue but rationing scarce street parking so that parking and mobility systems work better. Revenue will follow as a nice side-benefit.

The Quarterly Community Report to be presented on Tuesday night shows that Yarra has 201 car sharing vehicles. If we want to create a city that is accessible to all, without the need to own a car, then we need many more car share vehicles; i.e. a target of 2,000, ten times more than we have now.

Is it difficult to find a park near your house? One solution is to change our streets to 'Ticket Zone' so that the system can limit the number of visitor vehicles permitted to park in each street or neighbourhood.

Yarra's new parking requirements map was gazetted yesterday, you can see the massively beneficial changes, half of Yarra now has maximums instead of minimums, and most of the rest has greatly reduced requirements. This will all help reduce the cost of new housing, offices, and businesses.

Infrastructure Victoria is clear—better connected and safer cycling infrastructure is needed to support more Victorians to ride.

#Melbourne trams spend a huge amount of their time just waiting for traffic lights. Traffic light priority would mean faster trips, more competitive travel times, and even enable more frequent tram services with the current fleet.

This engagement in Stonnington is a preview of future service reviews in Yarra, e.g. should we cut some of our services, or instead grow our revenue, so we can deliver our aspirations?
