A big part of the authoritarian playbook is war. War takes over the news. War blots out criticism. War divides a nation’s people, subjecting those against it to being called unpatriotic. War grants leaders all sorts of emergency powers. War consumes everything else. We mustn’t let this war do so.

From the moment Trump declared his tariffs, legal experts said they would be challenged in the courts and if the courts decided against him refunding the tariffs collected would be a nightmare. He didn’t care.

I’m curious if SCOTUS expects Trump to comply with today’s decision considering their previously decision granted him absolute criminal immunity. I mean, what does he have to lose?

Is SCOTUS waking up? Will Trump pressure republicans in congress to codify his tariffs? Will he ignore the ruling entirely?

This should come as no surprise. The Trump administration likes to say he has made us more respected around the world, but Trump has always confused respect with fear. In reality, we are viewed as a lose cannon and a social pariah.

And , of course, this was intentional.

Trump is now revoking scientific findings, not based on additional scientific research disproving the previous findings, but because they are inconvenient to Trump’s lust for wealth and power.

No republicans were willing to listen to victims testify about their suffering at the hands of ICE agents today on Capital Hill. They give full-throated endorsements to ICE but are too cowardly to face the reality of the violence and inhumanity enabled by those endorsements.
