What's effectively happening here (in the British media at large, too) is the construction of "anti-racism" as somehow a "political alternative" to racism, rather than as a minimal civilisational standard, which in turn (further) vindicates racism as *also* an acceptable political position.

On the Green leadership election - it's striking that Polanski secured such a landslide *and* the membership rise (to vote for him) doesn't account for very much of it. Green membership is ~68,000 now - previously it's been around 65,000. A 16,000+ margin of victory shows where the Greens are at.

refugees are being housed in hotel rooms that do not meet their basic needs: families are being housed in rooms with no cooking facilities, nowhere for children to play, frequent reports of mould, damp, vermin. if an MP canāt explain that to constituents what are we doing here.
