We're in court today asking a judge to block a new Kansas law that invalidates the IDs of transgender people and allows anyone to sue a person they suspect of being trans for using public restrooms. This law has been wreaking havoc on trans people and we're demanding an immediate end to it.

As Kagan notes in her dissent, the Court opted not to hear the due process parental rights argument against bans on gender-affirming medical care in Skrmetti, basically setting up a regime where parents can force their trans children back into the closet but cannot help them out of it

This effectively forces every trans person in the state to out themselves while applying for a job, renting an apartment, or being stopped by police. It's part of the same law that allows anyone to sue anyone else they suspect of being trans and using the "wrong" bathroom.

I do think more people should appreciate that Sarah has to be selective about when she draws attention to her identity given the obsessive focus on it by some of her colleagues--she is in a uniquely impossible position. But it also makes it more impactful when she does.

I know many things are awful but here is one genuinely useful and helpful thing you can do. No matter their party, your representative needs to hear that trans people and our families are not alone and this bill is an unjustifiable and extreme threat to criminalize the health care we need to live.

The story of this week is that millions of Americans were told in 2024 their lives would be improved if trans people's lives were made worse and I'm glad they're finally waking up to the fact that was never true to begin with--but trans people's lives are still getting worse

I have watched as so-called "compromise" positions on transgender people's rights have failed over and over--in statehouses, the Biden White House, and in liberal rhetoric. There is no middle ground acceptable to the politicians, activists, and billionaires obsessed with trans people and our lives.
