VICTORY: The Court dismissed Trump’s appeal of our case, cementing my office's win to protect federal permitting for wind energy. Massachusetts has directed hundreds of millions of dollars into offshore wind. We're working to lower utility bills and create jobs. I won't let Trump get in the way.

Here is my Jane Yolen story, which I suspect is a pretty common one, or at least a variation thereon. I grew up on her books. One of my earliest memories is my dad reading Commander Toad books to me at the South Bend public library. Then I grew up and got a job in comics publishing. (1/)

Jane Yolen's work has been a comfort and an inspiration since I was a tiny child. Damn, she'll be missed.

Okay, I don't normally do prompts like this, but I have a lot to say about this one! Basically: all my characters are bi unless explicitly stated otherwise. Why limit the possibilities for who they could fall in love with?

Excited to be able to announce this now! I've sold a story to Escape Pod, to be published in July (next month? Holy shit, next month!) I will ramble about it a bit more once it's out, but for now, just know that I am vibrating in anticipation.

Greetings from the crappy little backup laptop with a very cramped keyboard! Excited to see how long I can stand this while awaiting a replacement! Note that I also have my work computer. I am in no danger of disappearing off the internet, just of not being in my ideal configuration for a while.

Okay, like yes, this is ironic. But what's more ironic is that this is the *second time* this has happened. Because the EPA's old headquarters is the reason we have the term "sick building syndrome" and a good bit of data on indoor air quality.

Because nothing ever slows down: last night my laptop lost connection, I attempted a reboot, and it never came back up. It was late enough that I decided to go to bed and deal with it in the morning.

I just got a pitch offering to create AI-voiced audio for The Present Day by Day, and it felt like they just fed the title into the prompter and sent the output directly to me. It's 300 words of airy bullshit that mean absolutely nothing. Why would anyone think that would entice a potential client?

Tiny milestones with an elderly, recently rehomed cat: I caught her on the sofa the other day, and she immediately jumped up and ran off to hide, like she'd been doing something wrong. Today, I've caught her on the couch multiple times, and the last time she didn't even run.

At the very last second, I decided to read some of my high fantasy manuscript at my
#Balticon
reading, and it was absolutely the right call. The audience loved it and were super enthusiastic when I finished; it was so reassuring. I know this book has an audience, I just have to convince a publisher.

I just did it immediately without thinking, and now we are in this situation. I made a catastrophic error in judgement. Let me analyze how I came to this decision:"

BREAKING: SB 2471 has been signed into law! It’s the first of its kind in the nation and renders the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision irrelevant in Hawaii. This is a win for the movement to get big money, especially dark money, out of politics.

"I need more color in my wardrobe," I say to myself. I stare at the available options for the cool ethically-produced T-shirt by an indie designer. The art looks best on, and was clearly meant for, a black background. I buy two.
