while we're here, somehow the fatal fury 1 arranged soundtrack is kind of ih, compared to the mvs chip output. it lack the energy, dounds muffled, fails to emphasize the defining elements of several tracks. the original soundtrack is impressive as all fuck, with what it achieves youtu.be/8chMBs_7gh8

in some cases the genesis one actually looks more "correct" than the original terry's skin tones, proportions, expression; the direct transparent overlay on the map; less eye damage from competing background colors it feels more mindful and artistic, while remaining essentially faithful to form

it's true; as crappy as takara was at most video game efforts, somehow they were some compile-level whizzes at exactly one thing: adapting snk games to the sega genesis though there's obviously some technical downgrades, the games look crisp, sound good (with great use of stereo) and play very well
