I am ridiculously sick of AI. It has some uses for me personally, but that's where I CHOOSE to use it. I seriously hate it being stuffed into literally everything, whether I want it or not. It's like the pinnacle of enshittification.

Listen, they are not 45's policies, they are the Republican administration policies. Make the whole goddamn party responsible. Make them all stand for what is happening because that's what's happening. That's the narrative. It isn't one person. It's all of them. That's what people should understand.

Also explaining to people why they need to move away from Meta apps is another uphill battle. Everyone's tolerance for misinformation and unethical business practices is different, and personal connections mean a lot. I get it. I hate it, too. But I've (mostly) reached my line in the sand.

Trying to help people understand what is happening with the TikTok ban is an uphill batttle. The people saying "Oh, who cares, never used it, it's an arm of China" are woefully underinformed or misinformed and this is one instance where context is absolutely everything.

Banning trans women in sport changes nothing for anyone except a handful of trans women. Cis women will still be raped by their coaches. Cis women will still be paid less. Cis women will still be second to cis men. But Oliver Brown hates women, so he's happy with that.

Most TT users, I feel, are smarter than to buy this. Much of the discusssion I saw on my FYP yesterday, prior to the shutoff, discussed this to some extent. Hoping that more people will think critically, but that might be stretching optimism to a breaking point.

Millions of Americans went to Red Note and learned that the U.S. is actually a "third world country wearing a Gucci belt." They learned that U.S. propoganda is real. Zuckerburg spent millions lobbying Congress to get rid of the competition. No matter what you think of China, it's time to wake up.

People who think losing TikTok was a net positive clearly never used it and don't understand the ramifications. TikTok wasn't just a "silly app." 170 million Americans use it to find community. 7 million small business depend on it. It contributes billions to the U.S. economy. 1/2

And yup, as expected, the NYT and WaPo stories about the app going dark only mention that Congress passed and Biden signed a law. Zero mention of Trump's previous actions and comments to push for a ban, or of his cozying up to its leadership (and vice versa.)

There are so many people I will simply never forgive.

This man is a profound danger. Every American should oppose his nomination.

They’re banning TikTok not because it harvests data, the same way US social media does, but because they can’t influence it’s algorithm with congressional hearings or government contracts the way they do every other tech giant. That’s it.
