I recently toured the Turina James building and was really impressed with Purpose Dignity Action’s programming. They treat clients with dignity and individualized care and it’s changing lives. They also do “after care”, continuing to provide services for around 12 months once someone is housed.

I was talking to some Nickelsville folks yesterday and hearing about this. This needs to be resolved asap. There shouldn’t have been delays in the first place and it’s unacceptable to have any further bureaucratic delays.

At the Seattle City Council meeting rn: public commenters don't want the Council to expand a police surveillance program. Why? Surveillance doesn't work and it's risky. Especially now, as the federal government can use this tech to target immigrants, trans people, and women seeking abortions (1/?)

Council should vote “no” on increasing surveillance, as it will just increase fear and anxiety, likely make our community less safe, and waste precious resources. Alternatively, the vote should be delayed until after elections. There has been scant public engagement and no reason to rush this.

My office requested that the Office of Civil Rights assess CB 121052 and 121053, and we wanted to share this report with the public. "CCTV and RTCC technologies are not neutral instruments, as they carry direct consequences for equal protection, privacy, and the freedoms of speech and association."

Instead of spending on more surveillance cameras, how about we use that $ for immigration defense instead and protect our community from these heartless attacks.

Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.

We could easily replicate this in Washington with a payroll tax like Seattle’s. If the business community doesn’t like it, they could help us advocate for an income tax with an exemption.
