Dan Evans was one of the greatest Washingtonians who ever lived. My mom and dad hosted one of the very first coffees for Dan Evans’ campaign at our home. I'll always remember the words from his first inaugural address:

Today, I signed an executive order at Renton HS kicking off a campaign to increase FAFSA completion rates. I want every eligible student to take advantage of this money for college, apprenticeships, and other education training. All you have to do is fill out the form.

This is a tragedy. Our state is grateful for the service and sacrifice of these servicemembers, and our hearts are with their families. Thank you to the first responders who are working to bring them home.

The murder of Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia was a heavy loss for our entire state. I hope this brings some closure for their mom Whitney and their loved ones. My prayers are with you as you continue to grieve.

I bought some milk from the Mt. Rainier Creamery last week. They're based in Buckley, and they started a pop-up location with Reynolds Trading Co. in Enumclaw after the White River Bridge closure. That's an example of the community spirit and resilience that makes Washington great.

Thousands of Washingtonians volunteer each year to clean up our beautiful coastline with State Parks and Washington CoastSavers. Grateful for that important work to support coastal communities, visitors, and wildlife. This Saturday is the International Coastal Cleanup. Register to volunteer here:

This is critical step forward, and a victory worth celebrating. The united voices of workers, businesses and elected leaders are making a difference. We will hold the Trump Administration accountable to the Oct. 15 deadline to begin treating waste at the Waste Treatment Plant.

Failing to extend these common-sense tax credits is one more way the federal government is making health care less affordable and less accessible to residents across our state. Congress must act now to extend these credits and protect health care access for tens of thousands of Washingtonians.

Science matters. We will ensure our policies are based on rigorous science. We stand united with our partner states and medical experts to put public health and safety before politics. I will continue to do everything in my power to protect Washingtonians.

Today, the West Coast Health Alliance issued winter virus vaccination recommendations for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV. Robert Kennedy Jr. has aggressively weaponized the CDC, purging its vaccine advisory committee and forcing out its director.

UPDATE #10: Good afternoon from the White River Bridge, where we're getting an early start on permanent repairs!   Crews will work seven days a week for the next six to eight weeks with the goal to reopen the bridge between Oct. 31 and Nov. 14.

Yesterday, we celebrated Mexico’s independence as we kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with the Mexican Consulate in Seattle at El Grito 2025. Honored to share in that special moment and present a proclamation declaring this week Mexican Independence Week.

I went to the Tri-Cities on Friday to send a clear message to the Trump Administration: Do your job at Hanford. If the federal government does not live up to its obligations, we will take legal action. Zero chance we're backing down on this. Zero chance we lose.

Let me be very clear: that is at least 80,000 more Washingtonians who will lose health coverage, in addition to the 250,000 Washingtonians we already expect to lose coverage because of Medicaid cuts.

Today, I joined House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Rep. Suzan DelBene, and Rep. Kim Schrier to call on Republicans in Congress to stop their health care price hike. At least 80,000 Washingtonians can only afford their plans through tax credits that will currently go away on January 1st.

24 years after 9/11, we still remember the courage of those on board the planes and the first responders who ran into danger. My heart is with the families changed forever that day.

This decision is a stunning waste of resources, a violation of multiple legal agreements and a slap in the face to the workers who have brought us to this point. We will be challenging this decision. There’s too much at stake for the people of Washington and our environment.

Our first responders take on significant risk every day to help those in need. As we honor Patriot Day and those who lost their lives on September 11th, I also proclaimed today First Responders’ Day in our state to recognize their critical role in protecting the public in the event of an emergency.

Violence is never the answer. There is no place in our democracy for political violence, and I condemn the murder of Charlie Kirk in the strongest terms. My prayers are with his family.

Workers deserve fair pay and benefits. Today in Wenatchee, I signed an executive order requiring Project Labor Agreements for workers on critical infrastructure projects over $35M. This provides strong protections for workers on major projects and predictability for the public.

It’s disappointing, but not surprising, to see the U.S. Supreme Court take up this case. President Trump’s tariffs are unlawful and harmful. If fully implemented, Trump's tariffs could cost our state more than $2 billion.

Grateful to local business owners for sharing their stories with me yesterday. Some small businesses in Buckley and Enumclaw are seeing business drop by 40-50% due to the closure of the White River Bridge.   We’re doing everything we can to get it open as quickly as possible.

Florida’s surgeon general was asked if any studies were done before ending school vaccine requirements. He said no.     That’s a shocking answer.    If you’re a concerned parent in Florida, come to Washington. We make sure all families have accurate information to make decisions.

I visited the construction on the White River Bridge today. WSDOT teams have been hard at work getting a temporary repair in place so we can start emergency work on a permanent repair. That contractor will work 7 days a week until the bridge is reopened.

The president is threatening to wage war against an American city. Day by day, Trump drags us closer to authoritarianism. We will not be intimidated. We will stand up for our values, the rule of law and our Constitution.

Our Department of Health issued a Standing Order for the COVID-19 vaccine today, as we work to ensure that all Washingtonians 6 months or older have access to these vaccines. I will do everything in my power to protect our residents with policies still based in rigorous science.

No matter how much the president wants us to believe that foreign countries bear the cost of these tariffs, that’s simply not true. There is no scenario in which these tariffs are good for Washingtonians.

We told the courts that tariffs would significantly harm Washingtonians and Washington businesses. Our voice was heard, and a federal court ruled against President Trump’s illegal tariffs. This is an important win as our fight continues against his senseless trade war.

A federal judge just ruled that Donald Trump’s authoritarian overreach in California was illegal. When I was Attorney General, my team and I beat President Trump in court 55 times. We’re ready for any similar unconstitutional stunt in Washington.

We have a lot to celebrate today.     Washington was recently named one of the best states in the nation for workers. This year, we strengthened laws protecting youth in the workforce. We created a more level playing field for bargaining workers.

The Trump Administration’s attacks on safety net programs like SNAP harm our most vulnerable Washingtonians, all to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans. This is not just morally wrong. It harms Washington’s economy and puts a strain on other programs that support our kids.

Important victory in our fight for affordability and jobs. As Governor, I was proud to stand with labor and business to file a brief in this case. It’s important to make sure Washington’s voice is heard as one of the most trade-dependent states in the nation.
