Yeah, the pacing and story issues were very apparent in this one. If you want to do THIS much in a movie, then it should be longer than 90 minutes so there's more time for scenes to play out and develop these characters. There were still plenty of moments I enjoyed, but it could be so much better.

I'm probably going to enjoy the Mario Galaxy movie just fine since I enjoyed the first movie for what it is. However, it really bugs me that I'm hearing the writers DIDN'T fix the previous movie's pacing and story issues! If movie 3 is green-lit, there needs to be a change. Mario deserves better!
