Made a maple bourbon pound cake. I had taken it to a party but by the time I got there everyone was in drinking mode so it wasn’t touched and the host just told me to take it back. Cut a slice today and it’s pretty damn good.

Those Door Dash prices can be diabolical. I was looking at lunch form a middle eastern restaurant and their website directed me to DD to view the menu. I ended up calling my order in with the restaurant and the every item on DD had an extra $4-5 tacked on.

Had just enough okra from the garden to make a quart to ferment. In a week or two I’ll have pickled okra to snack on. I planted Gold Coast and Jambalaya 2.0 varieties. The Gold Coast started producing earlier with bigger pods but the Jambalaya has caught up. Might look into other seeds next year 🌱

One day I was like: I should make ice cream. And I bought an ice cream maker and started making all kinds of recipes. 😂 I still make ice cream but not as often as I used to.

Very happy with the canning I got done over the weekend. Canned some sliced jalapenos and hot banana peppers, jars of tomato sauce and I blended 2 batches of hot sauce and started 2 more batches.

Adding the Chippola’s Pride tomato to my grow again next year list. Big sauce tomatoes and smell like a lightly cooked sauce when you slice them open and not a lot of seeds. Good disease resistance as well. 🌱

Tendril was dry, field spot looks ok and it had a hollow knock. It hasn’t grown in size in a week so I assume it’s just going to be a small one. I pulled it and I’ll see how it is later. Also the jambalaya okra is coming in. 🌱

Melon update: sugar baby hasn’t gotten bigger so we’re waiting for it to ripen. Fist for size reference. Moon and stars melon is getting bigger. Not sure if we’ll get enough warm weather for it to make it. Noir de Carmes melon, didn’t even notice it until it was too late. Not too bad though. 🌱

We got okra, a bunch of peppers (ghosts are in this post), some mustard and turnip greens and plenty of tomatoes. I’ll do another post with the melon updates. 🌱

Anyone good with pepper identification? Grew these from a mystery seed pack from Tyler Farms and they’re shaped like mini bell peppers, about 2.5 inches in length and ripen from green to red. I thought they were going to be sweet and they are but then you get blasted with Serrano level heat. 🌱

It’s the end of August and the high temps will be in the mid 70s for the next week. What am I supposed to do with these melons 😭🌱

This sugar baby watermelon might make it. And the birds like the amaranth plant. And one of those muster seeds were bell peppers. Ghost peppers are starting to ripen too. I had enough cayenne peppers to start 2 quarts of hot sauce and more are ripening. Late summer is good. 🌱
