We're nearly there with the DC distribution board, I'm going to mount it to the wall tomorrow evening if I get a chance Then I've got to create the power leads for all the various little computers & swap them over.. Fingers crossed for no magic smoke 😶 Ps. I've tested the voltage outputs already

Meh... It hit 33.5c on one of the outside sensors (in the shade??!!!) The others hit around 33c It was too warm to do anything other than whinge about it being too warm

I've been slowly building the DC distribution board for the home pc equipment This will be connected to the 280ah battery which will act as UPS as well as remove about 3kw of daily demand The regulators will produce 54v, 19v, 12v and 5v outputs Hopefully I can get it finished over the weekend

This is the final layout of the 12v dc distribution It'll be converted to 5v, 12v (the battery output can fluctuate between 11v & 14.2v), 19v and 54v It'll power devices @ 5v, various mini PCs & switches @ 12v, a mini server @ 19v and a POE switch @ 54v Total load approx 200w

Being a professional geek, I have quite a few computers running in the house Over the years I've reduced the base energy load that these consume, I've WiFi access points, routers, switches, raspberry PIs etc Soon they'll be running off a large 12v lifepo4 battery

I forgot to post these from the other evening's work I added the supports to the panels & started the wiring for the fuse box There's a DC switch then a 40amp circuit breaker before the fuse box They'll be a 12v->5v converter for the computer equipment along with the 12v pump power & lighting

It's been a full weekend on the allotment Saturday was weeding & planting, we removed about 1/2 a wheelie bin of bind weed 😑 Today has been a solar day I've fitted the panels (temp) in place & wired everything in I've got to bolt the panels to the angled brackets later this week

Bank holiday weekends are nice 🙂 I took Friday off too to give myself a 4 day weekend, these should be compulsory Yesterday - lots of work in the 45c+ (hot!!) poly tunnel, cleaning, repairing of the watering system & 18 tomato plants in the ground

A quick update on my allotment solar project I've got the battery & charger/controller talking to the raspberry pi over Bluetooth & all the data is pushed back to my home assistant via 4g I've already got the ZigBee sensors working, next step is actuators such as water valves

My current side quest is remote monitoring on my allotment I've got solar panels & a battery to install, it'll be used to run a pump to automate watering throughout the summer from the 1000ltr ibc But I'm going to use a bit of the solar power to run a raspberry pi zero w 2 & a 4g router

Well that's it, we're an all electric household, and perfectly timed too! The diesel van went last Sunday, a tank full of diesel went up by £15 in a week or so, to about £75 We've replaced it with a Kia pv5 - the equivalent cost of electricity to reach the same fuel tank mileage is about £7 😶
