Trump’s TV address Thursday may be less about proving his false claims of voter fraud in 2020 and more about creating a justification for taking over future elections. From scrutinizing voting machines to challenging Democratic victories, here's what Trump is hoping to accomplish with his speech:

No matter what comes out of Trump's mouth tonight, we know the 2020 election was legitimate — and we see this speech for what it is: an attempt to sow distrust ahead of midterms that are shaping up to be a blue tsunami.

President Trump, how about prioritizing the well-being of the American people instead of your dated conspiracy theories and deflection tactics for once?

Election experts warn that Trump may try to crack down on the use of electronic voting machines over alleged vulnerabilities. Trump likely would not be able to unilaterally decertify the machines — let alone prevent states from using them. But that might not stop Trump from trying. Here's how:
