Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today. I'm so angry.

Finding myself in a Merle Oberon mood lately, revisiting her films these past weeks, and: Opinion. Mine. She is so underrated and overlooked. Despite being in one of my favorite films—WUTHERING HEIGHTS (1939)—rarely is her name dropped as often as her contemporaries by way of other films she's in.

Also, this isn't a gotcha, physical media is still important. All physical media has its weaknesses, whether manufacturing defect, "it makes its own oxygen" raging infernos or vinegar syndrome. It's still better than a Zaslav being able to delete all digital access with a touch of a button.

Some Conservatives here in Canada have touted Liz Truss's opinion of Mark Carney as some kind of gotcha as he runs for Liberal leadership (with aim to be our PM). As a Canadian who follows a far bit of UK politics I'd like to counter with first, "Who?" and then "Her?"

He’s most known today for his studio character work but Noble Johnson, with his brother George, was a pioneer producer. Their Lincoln company made films with all-Black casts and, unfortunately, we can’t watch any because none of them survive apart from fragments. Check those attics!
