The governor who invited this to happen is silent. The mayors who didn't are fighting. That's the alignment to watch. Utahns mobilized in January against the first proposed site. They need to do it again, louder.

SLC Mayor Erin Mendenhall vowed to use every legal tool at her disposal to stop it. Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson said she is "deeply disturbed," warning that "we cannot allow aggressive and often unlawful federal enforcement tactics to take root in our community."

Washington just passed a “millionaire tax,” after Massachusetts passed its own in 2022. New Mexico enacted universal childcare last year. And organizers in Montana and California are advancing a ballot measure that would get corporate money out of politics. We still have power to fix the system.

If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.

I cannot adequately explain how fucked up the World Cup situation is wihen the president of a host nation *threatens the safety* of one of the participants (Iran). The USA should be removed as a host nation and if it's not, the games shoud be boycotted and ANYONE WITH A MORAL CENTER should see that.
