Had a female Montague's Harrier less than an hour ago at Tealham Moor

A few of the Shelducks and many more at Otterhampton Marshes yesterday evening, some Avocets chased off a grey heron, Cuckoo, Reed Bunting, Goldfinch.

Sunset reflected in the water at RSPB Ham Wall Wall a couple of evenings ago. A few Blackcaps singing away and a variety of other birds songs in the background.

Great Crested Grebes with lots of singing and activities, heard them first, haven’t seen this before so very pleased. In the same area also heard a Bearded Reedling for the first time but yet to see one, yesterday evening at RSPB Ham Wall.

Two Cuckoo’s yesterday evening at Steart Marshes, just before I left two came from behind the hide very close, one behind the other, probably a couple of metres away, into the marshes both calling loudly, wow. Also saw two Curlews on river bank and one Oystercatcher.

Pochards yesterday evening at RSPB Ham Wall, also saw a Barn Owl quartering with some goodies to munch and heard first cuckoo.

Two Common Cranes, my first photo of these super birds (there were 3 and was told the third was last years juvenile) yesterday evening at RSPB Greylake. Two flew even closer over the hide, what a wonderful experience, so exciting!!

Clouded Yellow this morning in the quarry at Berry Head, South Devon. Amazingly this is the second seen on this headland in the last couple of weeks and this is probably a good 2 months earlier than ususal. Its said that they are unable to survive a UK winter.

A few Starlings yesterday evening at RSPB Ham Wall.

Great White Egret, yesterday evening at RSPB Ham Wall. Also on way back to car park and approaching darkness saw and heard wedges of geese flying over, 20-30 in each wedge, several of these in just a few minutes, couldn’t se the species but awesome sound.

Previous post was at RSPB Greylake.

Kestrel hovering, also saw two Common Cranes flying over the main hide as I arrived, early yesterday evening.
