Whooo else has been #birding since before it was cool? ✋ I’m going through my archives and stumbled across this silly Western Screech-Owl that spent the winter in the Northern Flicker nestbox a couple years ago. 😎

Why did I create #BirdScore? Because I am a bird and numbers nerd. 🤣 At the end of any given day I check to see: how many species did I see today/this week/this month/this year? It’s a really fun way to keep track of the species during an excursion and it’s all I had hoped it would be!

#BirdOfTheDay is a Lawrence’s Goldfinch. I had resigned myself to not getting any more lifers in my community. It had been reported the previous day and after searching for an hour and a half we found it! Nobody else had seen it that day (or since). #BestOfTheMonth Lifer # 382!

All note details are easily editable. When adding species, you will find the predictive text to be very useful. You can edit the location by moving the pin or typing the details. You have the option of turning location services on or off. I find it to be helpful to keep it on while birding.

I’ve created #BirdScore to share and discuss my app, BirdScore: Birding Field Log. I originally created it for myself so I could submit more accurate reports to eBird. As I revised and improved it, I realized BirdScore would be helpful to other birders as well. Available in iOS and Android versions.
