Amazing work. A total speculation: superior predictive validity of self-report vs task perf metrics (accuracy, RT, etc) may arise from analogous dissociations btwn the lower-dim probes of '1st-order' task performance metrics, vs higher-dim / '2nd-order' judgements ("How *DO* I feel [wrt X_1...N]?")
