Summary by Jake Baker-Brown: "27 law students in Vanuatu went to the world's highest court and won. The ICJ ruling they sparked may be the most consequential legal decision in human history. This is what it looks like when ordinary people refuse to accept the limits others set for them."

All Hail Chaos was very difficult for me to write partly because I wanted to write that experience of being abandoned. I was lucky, most people stayed, but my closest creative community was blown apart when a close friend made fun of a time when I could barely walk or breathe from cancer.

Four drivers on the grid have won at least four GPs in a row. The only one not in this picture is Fernando Alonso.

there is a reason why most people are like 'i only ever saw the discourse about the discourse'. it's because it was like one guy who doesn't matter that you probably already have blocked.

I got in some time practicing my manuals and skate spins during qualifying. (Sat down when things got to the crucial laps, surprises on skates aren’t good.) I’m already feeling better on the new wheels - few more skate tweaks to make when I get appropriate tools but mostly I just need practice

Admittedly I did turn to my gf and say “I don’t support him any more” after that. But Ocon’s “Estie bestie‘s on the podium, baby” is the all time worst, I think.

Do you have a folder titled "Body Symptoms"? Be aware Symptomosis can hide Meta Symptom Syndrome, Chronic Symptom Disorder or Autoimmune Unsureitis. Medical literature often says "Yes, but..." Doctors increasingly find Symptomosis symptoms curious, but only suggest being less fat about it.

Do you have excessive symptoms? You may have Symptomosis, Symptomitis, or Symptom Syndrome. Symptoms are excessive symptoms at unexpected times, dates, and/or moments. Symptoms may include noticing, researching or forgetting symptoms, symptoms improving or worsening, or just saying "oh that's odd."

After the Irish author declined an Israeli deal for her recent novel, we saw a chance to help strengthen the boycott movement — and clarify its aims.

Just a little PSA- Neil Gaiman has reactivated his Bluesky account. Because he deactivated before a lot of people could unfollow him, and/or because Bluesky doesn’t remove you from a person’s followers when you block them, a LOT of you are still publicly listed as following him. You should check.

so I think this actually plays a role in it too - tech used to get the benefit of the doubt because they successfully presented themselves as cool nerds who wanted to make the world better the AI rollout has coincided with the tech overlords going openly fash, so people assume the worst instead

It is absolutely insane that people doing 'research' are just openly posting on the internet about how they don't check the sources that they cite in their papers are legit. And arguing that it's unfair to expect them to actually check their sources are legit AND correct.

Trying to explain how I know something is AI-written honestly makes me feel like a dowser, or a psychic attempting to convince a sceptic. I have spent a ludicrous amount of my one precious life reading text in many forms. I know without being able to say “here’s why”. There’s water there, OK.
