Does anyone need a fun story? Because llamas encircle tobacco thief and laugh at him until police arrive is pretty fun. (It's in the UK so both the petty criminal and all the llamas survive their encounter with the fuzz).

The great cull has begun. So far I have one overflowing bin bag of clothes for the charity shop and one overflowing bin bag full of clothes to give to my sister. And I have so much more to go through. Moving is exhausting!

Yesterday we found juvenile female #kakapo Ongaonga on a nest on Pukenui/Anchor Island. At just under 4 years old (her hatch day is 12th Feb), she's the youngest female ever recorded nesting. Today we also found Matilda nesting - she's just 2 days older. #kakapo2026 #conservation #birds

For anyone following tales of the new home, my sister finished painting the bedroom for me yesterday because the floor went in today! Hooray! No more concrete/asbestos tiles for us! Well, they're still there. But now we have floor on top!

Yesterday I took my niece to get some new gerbil friends. We have been trying to sort out House Stuff (painting, trying to arrange flooring, finding cheap appliances which will fit the odd gaps, trying to find furniture and so on...) all week and this was a very welcome break.

Today has been a big rest day so please enjoy these photos of friends I made at the animal rescue/botanic garden yesterday. Most of these were surrendered pets or 'animal attractions' for tourist businesses.

We went to Kite Beach today. It was very cool to watch.

We made it to Cabo Verde and have successfully procured snacks and naps. I'm very grateful for assistance staff and painkillers. It seems as though (touch wood 🪵) my power chair came out with only a few scuffs and scratches for its trouble, which might be a miracle. Next comes naps in the sun!

This is where I'm going for Christmas. I am currently trying to convince my sister to bake me some sea-salted banana bread.
