Interesting: Per a new report from the Congressional Budget Office, the deployment of the National Guard in D.C. (now up to 2,950 troops) cost $223 million from August-December, and will cost $55 million per month onwards. That means up to *$880 million* through the end of 2026.

DC affordable housing production in recent years has focused in the city's low-income neighborhoods—areas largely east of the Anacostia River. On the other hand, areas west of Rock Creek Park have had few affordable units added. IZ has focused new affordable units downtown, but only ~300 unit/yr.

This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.
