well Paramout Skydance shutdown a few international MTV channels alongside with Nick Music... I do hope they go back to what MTV is supposed to stand for MUSIC TELEVISION, at least in Japan they still air music videos on MTV, but I just hope this doesn't go wrong.

A lot of mixed messaging resulting from that has led a lot of people to believe MTV actually DIED... so no better time than now to actually "revive" the brand, as Bloomberg put it.

Comes just days after Paramount Skydance slit MTV's current musical ambitions in the throat, axing music video blocks and 24/7 music networks in all regions except America, Japan, Israel, Taiwan, and India (licensing costs to blame). It ruined the best MTV station, MTV Germany.

Paramount wants to recast MTV as "more than just a cable network", with a focus more on, shockingly, music. Skydance thinks the music programming could bolster Paramount+.

You could literally have your back turned and doing other things while the action is happening in full detail thanks to the dialogues in the series. It's essentially "animated radio." Ironically, a lot of modern shows are doing this practice more and more. They call it "background TV" now.

One thing I appreciate about Superfriends that often gets mocked for (and awesomely so along with other Hanna-Barbera heroes by a Cartoon Network spot decades ago when the channel was cool like that) is that they're essentially shows that you could listen to & know everything that's going on.

I’ve noticed a double standard where characters like Pepe Le Pew and Johnny Bravo have been mocked and looked down on for a long time, or characters like Mandark and Sheldon from Teenage Robot have been seen as more pathetic than anything…

But characters like Sally, the Canker Sisters, Panini, Pucca, Tootie from FOP, Sierra from Total Drama, Berry from Foster’s Home, Lola from earlier in the Looney Tunes Show, Helga Pataki, Jackie from Kick Buttowski, etc. are seen as A-OK and still funny.

It’s telling that Pepe Le Pew wasn’t allowed to be in Space Jam 2 and was edited out of his cameo in the Bugs Bunny birthday short, but Fifi La Fume is one of the most popular Tiny Toons characters and was allowed to be in Looniversity. Not saying Pepe isn’t messed up, I’m just pointing this out.

Also, Yakko and Wakko couldn’t do the Hello Nurse routine anymore in the Animaniacs reboot, but Dot was still allowed to do her schtick of flirting with other men.
