This digital ID thing, if I want to hire a consultant, or an actor, or some other person required for a single task, do I need to check their ID? I'm only temporarily employing them, does that make a difference? Like the window cleaner, do I need to check his ID before he cleans my windows?

Perhaps this is something of a flip-side to the Digital ID. Suppose the polis come to your door, or otherwise detain you, and you ask to see their ID. If the polis refuse to prove they are who they say they are, can you safely ignore them?

Why not just allow people to work? Wouldn't that be cheaper and more effective than creating ID cards and the whole infrastructure that goes with it? I don't understand why there is a class of people who aren't allowed to work.

Delivering best-in-class encryption and security while also working on eg older Android phones that might not be running modern operating systems is going to be tricky to deliver. I'm sure there's a way but it's a big ask given everything else on this list

2. Countries that have ID cards - like the whole of Europe - still have the same irregular migration problem (you may have heard!!!) & in fact the UK has the lowest share of its economy estimated as irregular economy in Europe so if it fixes the issue WHY DIDNT IT FIX IT THERE?

Just finishing "Knots & Crosses" by Sir Ian Rankin, book #15 in my read-through of #TartanNoir assessing the depictions of Scots speakers. Surprisingly there were two characters who spoke Scots in this book, both inconsequential to the plot, but better than none at all I guess. 1/
