Strange day in #butterfly land! There was a massacre of the painted lady butterflies 😢 only 4 remain. i believe it was a racoon bc it was done with such care and little mess. It completely ignored the swallowtail crysalis net right next to it. This guy came out just now, so I'll keep him overnight😴

It is Demi's 11th birthday today! 💜 Demi moved in with us a little bit over a month ago and she's now part of our little sheltie pack.

This morning 🌄 I learned about aphideaters! 👀 I found little #caterpillars on my dill and not swallowtail 🐛initially I was alarmed and wanted them off or out of the house. I looked up their image in my #nature app and found out they eat aphids and turn into mini hover flies that look like bees 🐝

Britt says she knows it’s #Caturday, but since I posted her sisters’ pictures she wants hers seen too. Briit is BISS American Grand Champion Jesstar Brillare. She is retired, and living the good life here with her sisters, and us. Britt is a blue merle sheltie hence her one blue eye. 💙

There are 2 #crysalis in every tiny container. The white foam is narrow enough to suspend the lids with attached crysalis. Some aren't attached to a lid but still look healthy, so I'll leave them open on the ground with paper towels to climb up so they can stretch and dry. Hopefully it works🙏🦋

So the #swallowtail had a successful release 🙌 🥳 Now I have adopted about 50 #paintedlady crysalis from 5th grade science! #nature #butterfly 🌸 🦋
