Still not a ton of blooms in the garden. I’ve put off a lot of seed planting until next week because we’re supposed to dip back down into the low 60s again, but I’ll be direct sowing zucchini, cucumbers, sunflowers along with more marigolds & zinnias. All of my plants seem to fine after last night’s flirtation with frost. The frost blankets did their job. I will use a little bit of this parsley, but it’s mostly for the black swallowtail caterpillars. I don’t see any sub 40° nights in the forecast, so I’m going to start planting flowers tomorrow 🌱

Sharing an interesting shroom I saw today. On a side note, we have a freeze warning for tonight, so I’ve been running around trying to cover some plants that I already have in beds. I’m sure some of my fellow northern gardeners are having to do the same. Hopefully this is the last 1. #fungifriends 🌱

Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms! Here is a photo of me & my Mom from sometime in the late 80s. My Mom sacrificed a lot to bring me into the world. She was 19 when she had me & started off raising me by herself. I’m very grateful for all that she has done for me. I wasn’t an easy kid to deal with.

This big beautiful lady lives inside my shed. She is a Dolomedes tenebrosus aka Dark Fishing Spider. They are pretty common around here along with their semi aquatic cousins. They are one of the larger spiders in this area. She is about 3 1/2 inches limb to limb. #nature #bugsky #photography 🕷️🕸️

I decided to break up with cannabis after a 30 year relationship. It’s 1 of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I quit drinking 5 1/2 years ago and it wasn’t that hard because I leaned on weed heavily. I’m an addict that’s incapable of exercising moderation. I haven’t been sober since I was 14.

A dear friend of mine passed away yesterday. He was one of the brightest, funniest, most creative people I knew. I shouldn’t have so many dead friends at the age of 42, but here we are. Addiction and mental illness continue to claim so many lives here. I hope your soul has finally found some peace.
