You know what, since I'm talking game design, let it be known that I hate sidequests. I despise them with every fiber of my being. I hate them more than the Allied Mastercomputer hates humanity. They are a pox on video game design and pacing.

Joking aside, the issue (as always) with any kind of discourse (but especially gaming discourse) is that the short form nature of posts does not allow for any kind of nuanced discussion. That's why its so much easier to just say a game is junk / trash / slop etc.

For as excited as I am about Resident Evil 9, I have to say that High on Life 2 looks incredible. I've been playing through the first game and while it can be annoying at times the gameplay is actually quite inventive and fun. The second game looks like a huge improvement.

Romeo is a Deadman is pretty great from what little I've played of it, but I wanted to say to give someone props not just to Suda, but to Ren Yamazaki. He's been with GHM for a very long time. Co-directed not only TSA and NMH3, but also Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked as well as Black Knight Sword.

I think the main reason why Return to Silent Hill is so bad is because Roger Avary wasn't involved. Christophe Gans IS a talented director but trying to tackle this screenplay solo when the previous one was written by the co-writer of Pulp Fiction almost doomed the movie from the start.

RE9 gameplay looks incredible. Everything is emergent. If Leon uses a chainsaw to take out an enemy it stays in play; leaving other enemies to pick it up and use it as well. Kicks send zombies tumbling into one another like bowling pins. Lots of variance in moment to moment situations.

Just finished up Chapter 3 and its accompanying 'Placebo' chapter in the Silver Case and I'm just... man. Suda really does not miss. Crazy that he was 31 when he made this game. Definitely something to keep in the back of your mind.

Man, The Silver Case really has the fucking sauce. I basically have no idea whats going on, but the presentation is phenomenal. Its crazy to see how much it has in common with Killer 7. Playing this in 1999 must have been incredible.
