There are a v. limited number of things I like in Christian theology. One is the Christmas story's valorization of those at the bottom of the social structure. ...thinking of churches that in place of a nativity scene have signs saying the Holy Family is in hiding from/has been grabbed by ICE.

Little shockeroo of the Black River (Rio Negro) Rio Negro is what joins Rio Solimões at the Meeting of the Waters at Manaus to form the Amazon ... at least, that's how things are named in Brazil. Elsewhere Rio Solimões is known as the Upper Amazon and Rio Negro is just one of its tributaries.

You know who isn't stressed out right now? The 'snow monkeys' of Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. They're wild Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) who live in the nearby hills, but winter in/around natural hot springs (onsen) in the park.
