For #6 (STRYCHNINE), I wanted to do another fun UK call out. The Alnwick Garden has a poison garden that contains over 100 species of dangerous, toxic, and harmful plants! Some plants include foxglove, belladonna, and my personal enemy giant hogweed (it makes me scared to touch Queen Anne's Lace 😭).

For #5 (SWEET)...did you know that La Morgue in Paris was not only a tourist attraction to view corpses but vendors and hawkers routinely set up shop outside the morgue to sell snacks? It was possible to buy sweet treats in case you got peckish while viewing unclaimed bodies.

Love this! For #4 (GORE), when I visited the The Old Operating Theatre Museum in London I learned about dissection hooks, which have since made an appearance in my Frankenstein retelling! The central ring was pinned to the table and the chain hooks were used to hold back dissected layers. ☝️😀

I remember finishing my first novel where the MC had intense ADHD. I thought "I should get this read by a sensitivity reader" Turns out the sensitivity reader was me. I'm medicated now but I remember being surprised by how much I ✨poured my experiences✨ into the MC. Should have clocked that one. 🫣

The seasons are huge markers of time in my story. By proxy, winter features heavily. It tends to be when the most intense parts of my story happen. 🥶 A lot of that has to do with Mary Shelley placing the creation of the monster in November and me honouring that & revisiting its anniversary.
