One way to think about nuclear disarmament narrowly and scaling back the US military generally is that it's the same principle as not just locking up a gun and ammo, it's getting the weapon and the ammo out of the house so that a drunk doesn't figure out how to find the keys and just start blasting.

This is very very stupid because we can’t use nuclear weapons without massively harming ourselves, ESPECIALLY in our own region. And that means the ability to deter our adversaries is pretty low because threatening to kill our own people isn’t very credible.

Also, let’s please stop talking like the US can “give away” Ukrainian territory in a negotiations with Russia, it’s not a US decision. Ukraine will decide what the legal status is of Ukrainian territory, just like Palestinians will decide about Palestine.
