Trying to explain to MrsJ that I'm watching this slightly odd, critically acclaimed Thai film, which is harmless really, just as things get all fish-sexy.

I'm giving away this copy of For You by Tatsumo Yamashita. Arguably Japan's finest City Pop album. Comment 'For Me?' and a random wheel thingy will choose a winner. Giving this away as a thank you for joining me on my Tokyo trip. Trust me... you want this amazing LP. More info below...

Blog update: The final NME Indie Number One of 1986 was Age of Chance's cover of Prince's "Kiss", which was number one for a staggering ten weeks. Despite leading to a major label deal, it turned out to be the (largely forgotten) peak of the career.

Blog update: New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" topped the NME Indie Charts in November 1986, but was less fortunate in the official charts. Offcuts and remixes aside, it would be their least successful single for the next 29 years, even though it sounds like an absolute smash. What went wrong?

Just rereading the transcript of this thanks to this skeet. I'd forgotten how good that episode was and how much it epitomises my intentions for the podcast. Sometimes *not* having much biographical information about the performers made for better, or certainly more coherent, episodes.

Blog Update: The Smiths "Ask" topped the NME Indie Charts in November 1986 and became one of their biggest singles. It's one of the few optimistic, uptempo, dancefloor jigs in their catalogue. Did it offer good advice to teens, though? Depends, I suppose...
