The First Amendment is a foundational promise to every American: Each of us has the freedom to speak, to report, and to hold those in power accountable without fear of retribution or retaliation.

We are now in a full-blown constitutional crisis. That’s why following the arrests of Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, I sent three separate letters demanding the dismissal of all charges, a congressional hearing, and a DOJ Inspector General investigation.

For anyone not paying attention, we are at the arresting journalists stage of fascism. Arresting journalists. When does it sink in?

I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

Democrat leaders should be in Minnesota right now, standing side by side with Walz and Frey and the community. They need to show solidarity and a united front. They must say Abolish ICE. They won't but they should. Trump is going to unleash hell on that state.
