When Congress drags its feet on farm policy, it’s not “politics as usual.” It’s higher grocery prices. It’s family farms going under. It’s kids going hungry because SNAP benefits were cut. Working Americans deserve better and that’s what I am fighting for in Congress.

Americans deserve a funding bill that puts healthcare, public education, and lower costs first. That’s the CR I’d vote for, but it wasn’t on the floor yesterday. Democrats will always stand up and fight for working families.

While my staff and I sat in traffic yesterday, I filmed an I-95 update. As my 15-year-old learns to drive, I want her safe on our roads. We need light rail to ease congestion, road work at night, and safer highways so every parent can trust their teen is safe behind the wheel.

Yesterday was National Virginia Day. To me, there was no better way to celebrate than being out on the campaign trail just weeks before Election Day. Virginia is the birthplace of American democracy. This November, it's up to us to continue that legacy by showing up and voting.

Yesterday, Hampton U and Virginia State U — along with several other HBCUs — were forced into lockdown after threats against their campuses. Every classroom should be a place of safety and refuge, not fear.

As political violence grows, we must resist those who seek to fan the flames of division. There is no war between political sides; on the contrary, there is much more that unites us than divides us.

Metro, VRE, and Amtrak are the backbone of our region, but they need major upgrades. I’ll fight to expand service so more people can rely on safe, affordable public transit to get to work, school, and everywhere else life takes them.

9/11 changed the trajectory of my life and the country’s future. When I heard the news of the first tower, I at first thought it had to be an accident. When I heard news of the second plane, twice I knew it was much, much worse. I knew we were under attack.
