One more thing about the "Mamdani eating rice with his hands" shot in the Cuomo ad—that imagery is a huge part of anti-Mamdani messaging on the fascist far right, and is something that's largely invisible in the mainstream campaign. Cuomo foregrounding it is a very clear statement.

Back when I did this kind of thing, the pitch for why more NYC newsrooms should have dedicated MTA reporters—not even "transportation" generally, just MTA—was that the MTA's annual budget was larger than that of 10 states.
