I used to work as a domestic violence crisis counselor, and this is spot on. Attempts to make you feel insecure are a huge red flag and escalate over time.

Dealing with potential abusers is hard because it feels anti-social. You have to destroy them at the time they are still being fake nice to you early in the relationship when they poking and prodding to see what you'll tolerate. Ruthlessness at the beginning of a relationship pays dividends later.

Im a hedonist when it comes to relationships in the sense I believe the *only* purpose of a relationship, of any kind, is the pursuit, maximization, diversification of pleasure. Anyone in word or deed trying to accustom to you to pain or suffering in a relationship no matter how small is a red flag.

There is no positive way to believe "Men should have some degree of authority or power over women". People, often for religious reasons, like to do mental gymnastics to make this work because they already in an abusive relationship with the deity they worship.
