What the United States is actually doing is using its massive military capabilities to airstrike random boats full of Latino people because Stephen Miller is all-but-open fascist who gets a weird semi-sexual thrill out of killing people of color. It's absolutely rogue state behavior

I'm old enough to remember (way back in 2016) when an armed militia actually occupied a federal government facility in the state of Oregon (for over a month!) and engaged in a shootout with the FBI. And, that wasn't deemed sufficient to justify deploying the military.

The idea that a school should be prepared to reward a well-argued paper for a bad position is fine in principle, but if we're not total nihilists, we'll also recognize that there are positions for which it's inherently impossible for a defense to be "well-argued."

Congratulations to the U.S. Army on its 250th birthday. It's a shame that this day is being marred by using soldiers to indulge the narcissism of a would-be king, instead of honoring the democratic values so many have served and fought and sacrificed for. They resisted tyrants - so should we.

A really chilling implication here is that if Trump keeps doing speeches on military bases, and commanding officers continue to tell soldiers to opt in or out of these events (as they did here), then there will be lists by base and unit of which soldiers support the administration & which don't.
