Plus, the Hermann score?! It punches you right in the soul with menace from the start, immediately setting the tone.

Rewatched the OG Cape Fear & WOW — the sustained tension alone makes it visceral as Hell. Feels like menacing theatre. No way audiences were ready for such confrontational filmmaking such as this — which is exactly why the craft on display wasn’t recognized. This film should have given Oscars.
