So, looks like NaNoWriMo is now defunct. For anyone who was on the inside of the goings on this is not surprising. I didn’t use it at all last year because of their awful response to community concerns and I’m proud of my choice. I will continue to do my own thing and look for community elsewhere.

I just saw that they’re shutting down NaNoWriMo. 😭 I had a sense the new crew who took over last year were struggling. But it’s incredibly sad to have it end like this. Ugh. So many feelings.

I think what's disappointing about the Nanowrimo shit is that everyone focues on the AI sponsor and not the fact that they ONLY REASON they had to resort to that was the grooming allegations in the website's youth forum

... I'm extremely pissed at that article. NaNoWriMo got what it fucking deserved for the AI shit, but the allegations of predatory behaviour by a kids forum moderator were not just random baseless attacks from the fucking fascists, and their response was neither timely nor thorough.

Anyway, to my IMMENSE surprise, the blood test was *negative* for measles immunity! 😱 Apparently I’m one of the unlucky few for whom the vaccine wore off, for unknowable reasons. So today I got a new MMR shot, and next month I’ll get a second. I’m very glad I checked!

Quick little health-related thread: There are measles outbreaks happening in the US & Canada because of pockets of very low vaccination rates. I wondered if maybe I might need an update to my vaccines. I got them in the usual way as a kid, but sometimes immunity doesn’t last. So I asked my doctor.

Forever a little baffled when characters, having been inside for a while, mention taking off their shoes. I know this is a cultural thing, but in my mind, shoes are for outside and come off at the door. My characters' shoes do too. So, I'm curious: Is it common to wear shoes inside where you live?

I stopped using NanoWriMo because they said AI was acceptable for writing books because... It's abelist not to let a computer steal other people's work to make a poorly written book? No thanks. That's thinking people with disabilities are not capable of being creative. That's the real abelism.
