We celebrated our Reconciliation through art and shared times when we feel God’s love. Here are some examples of our work.

To build on our knowledge of Venn and Carroll diagrams, we learned about block diagrams and Bar graphs. We counted coloured cubes and used the totals to create our own block diagrams and Bar graphs, helping us to organise information clearly and compare quantities easily.

Last week, we revisited Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams as part of our data handling work. We learned that’s Venn diagrams help us sort and compare information by showing how different groups overlap, while Carroll diagrams allow us to organise data using two criteria in a table format.

Last week, Primary 3 really enjoyed working with Yorik from the Youth Music Initiative, where they had great fun learning and playing the ukulele together. 🎶

In preparation for our Reconciliation, we practised The Promise Prayer with a prayer partner.

We explored historical timelines and practised our skills by mapping key events from the life of Mary, Queen of Scots.

We were delighted to welcome a special visitor, Yorik from the Youth Music Initiative, on Wednesday afternoon. Take a look at how fully immersed we were in our music learning experience.

We engaged with our Talk for Writing by sharing our ideas at a discussion station. We created story maps, explored the emotions present in the text, and used Colourful Semantic cards to help us apply adjectives found in the text.

More money practise.

This week, we have begun our new numeracy topic on money. We started by sharing our existing knowledge and working with concrete materials.

Our new Talk for Writing unit is called “The Papaya That Spoke.” Story maps and a written version of the text have been sent home. We would really appreciate your support in helping your children to learn this over the coming weeks.

P3 pupils have their Glow usernames and passwords sellotaped into their homework wallets. Please help your child to keep these safe, as they are required if learning takes place at home. If your child was absent today, their details will be checked and added if required on Monday.

During Paired Maths, we used our collaboration skills to work with a partner to find as many maths routes as possible to the top of the beanstalk. We used directional language such as left and right to help us plan and explain our routes. 🌱➕🧠

We were learning about more and less trustworthy information linked to our IDLtopic, Mary Queen of Scots. We used critical thinking to question where information comes from and how reliable it is. 🧠📚

This week’s spelling will be revising the words below. Reading books have gone home, with key common words from the text included. There is no homework grid this term as we are focusing on the Reconciliation home learning booklet, reading and spelling words. In class, we will be covering Week 5.

A magical afternoon for P3B with a visit from Mrs Claus and her elves. The children were thrilled with their wishing coins 🌟

After weeks of Nativity rehearsals, P3B loved a well-deserved relaxing afternoon! 🎄✨

We have also created beautiful snow flakes using paper and cutting.

This week, along side loads of Nativity practise, we created winter art using pointillism. We used cotton buds to dip into paint and create art using lines of dots.

I enjoyed working with P5H in our first Skills Academy lesson last Friday, where we focused on collaboration. We analysed soil samples and made observations about their colour, texture, and smell. We made sure to take turns and respect our peers’ opinions @mrshu-stp.bsky.social

This afternoon, we took part in Lesson 2 of our Reconciliation preparations, building our understanding of Baptism as we drew images of ourselves being baptised and discussed our Godparents and the important roles they play.

Last week, I had the pleasure of working again with Primary 4D @mrsd-stp.bsky.social for our second Skills Academy session. We explored what makes a garden wildlife-friendly, then used creativity and collaboration to bring our ideas to life. Some of the children wanted you to see their work!

Primary 3 have started their new topic ‘Queens’ which links to the villain in their Talk for Writing unit of work ‘The Snow Queen’. We learned what they do and how they become a queen, then put our creativity to work by drawing Mary Queen of Scots

Today Primary 3 used the Meta-skill ‘critical thinking’ to work out the meaning of tricky words within their Talk4Writing text. You’ll see children also ‘collaborated’, discussing their thoughts and listening to peers.
