Spelling 01.12.25

I enjoyed working with P5H in our first Skills Academy lesson last Friday, where we focused on collaboration. We analysed soil samples and made observations about their colour, texture, and smell. We made sure to take turns and respect our peers’ opinions @mrshu-stp.bsky.social

This afternoon, we took part in Lesson 2 of our Reconciliation preparations, building our understanding of Baptism as we drew images of ourselves being baptised and discussed our Godparents and the important roles they play.

Last week, I had the pleasure of working again with Primary 4D @mrsd-stp.bsky.social for our second Skills Academy session. We explored what makes a garden wildlife-friendly, then used creativity and collaboration to bring our ideas to life. Some of the children wanted you to see their work!

Primary 3 have started their new topic ‘Queens’ which links to the villain in their Talk for Writing unit of work ‘The Snow Queen’. We learned what they do and how they become a queen, then put our creativity to work by drawing Mary Queen of Scots

Today Primary 3 used the Meta-skill ‘critical thinking’ to work out the meaning of tricky words within their Talk4Writing text. You’ll see children also ‘collaborated’, discussing their thoughts and listening to peers.

Thank you to all who attended the Open Morning last week. Keep an eye out for some the activities that we did as they will form the writing lessons over the coming weeks.

Primary 3 have been independently writing their own version of Peter and the Wolf. We have created our own main characters, writing a beginning, middle and will be finishing our endings today ✍️ #talkforwriting

Last week in Science, we learned that sound vibrates and needs a medium to travel. We used string as a medium for the sound to travel.

Last week, we learned French numbers 11 to 21. We played Snap and Memory Match to help us practice them.

Primary 3 conducted a sound and vibration science experiment this week. By applying an elastic band on various objects, we investigated how the resulting pitch can change and recorded our results.

P3 explored their new book titles today and imagined the stories inside by sketching what they think the books might be about 📚✏️

Spelling words for week beginning 1st September

We finished off the week building zoo’s to lock the ‘evil, vicious wolf’, from out Talk for Writing piece, away 👦🐺.

A and S worked together to create a piece of candy using magnetic pieces, well done 👏🏼

Today, P3 were prasticing Partner Dictation. We shared a sentence for our partner to write, making sure there was a spelling word included.

Today, P3 were learning different ways to record the date. We noticed we could use dots or forward slash lines to separate the day of the month, the month and the year 📆

We were learning how to write the date in preparation for working in jotters soon 📅

We are using Elkonin boxes to break up spelling words into different sounds (phonemes). Can you spot the phonemes we were practising?

I am learning that P3B are very creative and love to draw and colour! Keep a look out for our wonderful art work at Meet The Teacher in a couple of weeks time 👀
