As part of the Love Where You Live campaign, P2B discussed the litter hot spots in and around Denny. Working in groups of three, the children created maps of different parts of the local area and marked red crosses to identify places where litter is a problem. #lovewhereyoulivestp

In numeracy, we have been practising division. We have been using concrete materials and our times tables knowledge and to help us! Ask us what we know! ➗

As part of our World of Work topic, P2B worked in groups to research different jobs and find out some interesting facts about each one. Then each group reported back their findings to the rest of the class.

We loved having F’s dad in our class last week to chat about his job as a Marine Biologist. We were all fascinated by the work he does and had lots of questions!

P2B had lots of STEM fun today creating houses for the 3 Little Pigs using marshmallows and spaghetti. We used lots of meta skills as we collaborated, focused and adapted to build houses that would withstand a huge huff and puff from the Big Bad Wolf!

We are working very hard to develop our problem solving skills in paired maths. Our current strategy focus is ‘Guess, check and improve’. Today we used our knowledge of multiplication, grouping and arrays to help us solve the problem. So very proud of you all!

We would like to say a huge thank you to G’s mum for taking time to teach us all about her very important job! She works very hard to keep people safe at work and makes sure they have all the equipment they need to provide our homes with electricity 🏡 ⚡️ 🔋 We loved trying on the very important PPE!

P2B have been having lots of fun in music with Yorik over the past few weeks. Yesterday they also impressed him with how well they can count in french! 🎶

School Newsletter 😃

Termly homework grids have been sent home in folders. Along with numeracy and literacy we also have a focus this term on the UNCRC. This extra home learning grid will help the children build confidence in understanding children’s rights as we work towards our Gold Award application.

Following our letter from Fairyland, we got to work on some problem solving and construction! 🚧 We further developed our collaboration and adapting metaskills.

On Friday we were very lucky to bump into our local Refuse Collectors on our school grounds as we enjoyed a sunny walk! They were very kind and answered our questions.They collect 22 tonnes of general waste each day!!!

P2B are having lots of fun exploring multiplication. We have been learning to make groups and arrays and have been busy practicing our 2,5 and 10 times tables.

During Lent we have been walking daily to cover the distance of the Blue Nile for SCIAF -approximately 900 miles. Amazingly we have walked more than 973 miles!!! We would appreciate any donations as we plan on creating a coin trail tomorrow (Wednesday 1st April).

P2 have been participating in SCIAF’s Big Lent Walk! Our whole school has now walked the length of the Blue Nile to raise money for SCIAF. 😊 We are still collecting change for our “wee box” ahead of our coin trail this Wednesday too.
