I just rewatched the movie a few nights ago, and god do I love everything about Rey’s introduction. Her John Williams theme music, no dialogue from her but still conveying her life through her daily actions, her sense of whimsy with the pilot helmet, etc. Just one part of a film that I adore!

The Rise of Skywalker is leagues better and actually good, even with weak spots bc it gave a cathartic finale for the sequel trilogy (& left so much open for new stories beyond). Duel of the Fates would’ve just angered everyone (angered Reylos by ruining the dyad, and making the ST finale messier).

I cannot agree enough. It’s draining to the point of mental exhaustion when the things you go to to escape the real world are over run by “fans” who exist in a perpetual state of outrage by things that should be escapism from the real world. This year more than most I certainly have needed it.

The smartest move J.J. Abrams made for this movie was telling John Williams to make a heroic theme for Ben by creating it out of Kylo Ren's Theme. "Making the move from Ren to Ben." as Williams put it. One of my favorite musical moments of the entire trilogy.

Financial discussions only really matter in regards to what gets a sequel and what doesn’t. As fans, we do way too much armchair quarterbacking on this when most of the time we don’t know what we’re talking about. The idea of something being “good” or “bad” based on its profitability is hogwash.

What's wild is that Rock Band ranks 27th in all-time franchise dollar sales (game only, excluding DLC/MTX) in US tracked history. It sold 92% of its lifetime volume from 2007-10. Rock Band's 2008 sales rank as the 19th biggest for dollar sales from a franchise in a single year ever. Was massive.

Hyper enthusiast, price-insensitive players are really keeping things going, especially in the non f2p gaming space. According to Circana's Q3 2025 Future of Games, only 4% of US video game players buy a new game more often than once per month, with a third of players not buying any games at all.
