This week on #TheLawShow, we talked Law Under Fire with Mark Evans, President of the #LawSocietyofEngland&Wales, and Charlie Sherrard KC - asking whether increasing political attacks on lawyers and the judiciary for doing their jobs could undermine the rule of law and democracy in the UK.

Today, the #HouseofLords published its awaited report examining the state and quality of the #RuleOfLaw in the UK. The report highlights with concern the weakening of this foundational value, and calls on Government and politicians to take stronger action to defend it.

There are many important recommendations in the HoL report, not least of which is not to be complacent about the strength of the rule of law in the UK. Have a listen to the show, and do read.

Ok legal folk. Recent legal cases on UK gov depts ignoring policies + decision deemed not unlawful. Suggestions please. Cases I'm thinking about:

One should always be suspicious when the state resists disclosure of documents. And one should be more suspicious when the state suddenly purports to agree to the disclosure of documents.
