We welcome the announcement yesterday that the Government is extending the 56 day move on period for newly granted refugees until the end of the year. This gives people more time to obtain housing and a means to support themselves, and we recommend that it should become a permanent fixture.

🎓 Helping people who have experienced homelessness to gain skills and develop their employability is a fundamental part of our aim to help people rebuild their lives. Last year, hundreds of people took part in our training and employment programmes. But what does that look like in practice? ⬇️

Going to prison can mean losing your home and possessions, and a potential breakdown in relationships with family and friends. Each year at St Mungo’s, we work with more than 9,000 prisoners and ex-offenders to help make a positive change in their lives. ⬇️

There are no shortcuts to solving rough sleeping. It needs systemic change. But what’s different about this latest rough sleeping plan is that it puts prevention at the forefront.   Our CEO, Emma Haddad on Politics London this morning to discuss the Mayor's new Rough Sleeping Plan.

Accommodation is the first step in supporting someone away from the streets. Different people have different needs, so we operate a range of accommodation services, from emergency hostels, through to supported and semi-independent housing, to help people at every stage of their recovery. ⬇️

Rough sleeping is the most visible form of homelessness. It’s harmful, dangerous and can ruin lives, so finding people who are sleeping rough and offering support is a critical first step. Last year our 13 outreach teams supported over 7,000 people sleeping rough. But how does it work? ⬇️
