I was raised to think that if you are smart & competent you don’t need to be defensive. If a doofus at work rants about something, critiquing you while also just being wrong, you can move on and eventually the continued competence will speak for itself. This is not true. Doofuses rule, often.

It seems about 25 year ago, the phrase “is this the hill you want to die on” became more common in corporate America. I found it baffling because there is no hill I want to die on, but does that mean I can’t point out the logo use violates our style guide? Will I die for that?
