The Long Man of Wilmington, Eric Ravilious, 1939. It depicts the landscape of the Wilmington Giant chalk man cut into the side of a hill on the South Downs in East #Sussex. The original artwork is in the collection of V&A.

I had a near-death experience a few years ago. I blacked out and saw angels, stars and the face of God before I came round again. I can't tell anyone the full story though, which is that I was straining too hard to expel a stubborn turd at the time.

The unusual burial chamber at Lligwy, #Anglesey, was once the HQ of a #witch. Thrown off a ship for some mischief or other, a fisherman rescued her and she asked him to take her to the cromlech. Really bored of doom-scrolling socials & reels on breaks at work. I’ve vowed to read the books I’ve been promising myself to finish on my phone instead. Two days in & I’m ripping into Wuthering Heights. Next is Lorna Doone. Oddly, I find it easier to read on my phone than the physical book. #booksky

Fresh up for the weather themed #FolkloreThursday today I offer the #Witches of Boscastle who captured favourable wind in knots. These ropes were then sold to sailors to help get them moving when their ships were becalmed. Superstition? Maybe. But a fascinating slice of Cornish #WitchSky for sure.

Our cat keeps bringing us dead mice as gifts. Well, I assume they are gifts. I thank her, give her one of the treats she loves and then peg the dead mouse to the garden washing line by its tail. A crow or raven comes and takes it away before the end of the day. We are all a team.

#FolkloreThursday Welsh folklore tells of "gwynt traed y meirw" or "the wind that blows over the feet of corpses" - an easterly wind which foretold either a death or good fortune, depending on local tradition. Named because corpses were buried with feet facing east, from where this wind originated.
